Assassin’s Creed Shadows – Checkout these details from inside !

Finally after centuries of community demands Ubisoft has launched a much anticipated trailer for Assassin’s creed in a shade of feudal Japan samurai and shinobi essence. The game is full of epic katana duels bringing ninja arts to the game.

Let’s watch trailer and then we’ll go into details

Honestly the trailer does look dope and it gained a lot of popularity within few hours of release , Although the gaming community does have some mix reviews regarding pre order from Ubisoft and we wonder why 😛.

In the recent interviews with IGN the developers shared some inside details , Here are the details you should know about the upcoming Assassin’s creed-shadows

What’s the story ?

  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows transports players to the Azuchi-Momoyama period of Japanese history, beginning in 1579 and extending into the early 1580s. This marks the series’ return to the classic Assassins and Templars conflict, reminiscent of 2015’s Assassin’s Creed Syndicate.
  • The storyline is rich with historical figures such as Oda Nobunaga, renowned as the “great unifier” of Japan, and Fujibayashi Nagato, a master ninja of the Iga clan.
  • Similar to Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Shadows features two protagonists that players can switch between throughout the campaign. Naoe, fictional daughter of Fujibayashi Nagato, is trained as a skilled shinobi by her father. The second protagonist, Yasuke, is a real historical figure—a man of African descent who arrived in Japan with the Portuguese in 1579 and rose to become a samurai in the service of Lord Oda Nobunaga. Shadows marks the first time in the series where players can embody a historically documented individual.

Gameplay

  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows dives deep into the play of light and dark for stealth tactics. Now, shadows affect how enemies spot you, and you can manipulate darkness by dousing lights or taking out torchbearers. A handy light meter shows how hidden you are.
  • Meet servants, a new NPC type who can’t fight but can call for backup. They wander with lanterns at night, adding a new challenge.
  • You can now choose to knock out enemies instead of killing them quietly, offering a more peaceful approach. Plus, you can crawl on the ground for better cover and squeeze through tight spots.
  • Naoe’s got a cool grappling hook that lets you swing around rooftops and ambush from above. Eagle vision is back too, helping you see enemies through walls.
  • But the recon bird is gone, so you’ll have to rely on your own eyes. And each character has their own stealth style: Naoe’s all about the silent approach, while Yasuke uses stealth for clever ambushes instead of sneaking.

Combat and bounty

  • In this Japanese warfare era, defensive options are limited to armor, as shields weren’t used. Dodging and positioning are crucial for survival.
  • Yasuke, a samurai, can block and parry attacks, while Naoe relies on deflecting blows rather than blocking or parrying, though Ubisoft hasn’t clarified the difference. Enemy armor can be worn down and broken during combat.
  • Almost everything in the game is destructible, from bushes to baskets, with weapons leaving distinct marks. Various historically accurate weapons like katanas, spears, and rifles are available. Each weapon has its own skill tree, and proficiency increases with use.
  • Players can craft personalized katanas and customize gear using a transmog system. Combat skills are unlocked by discovering Ninja Scrolls. While Yasuke and Naoe have individual skills and gear, they share XP, weapons, and resources, encouraging teamwork.

Map details

  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows runs on an upgraded Anvil game engine, delivering enhanced visuals with better lighting, breakable props, and reduced pop-in.
  • The game introduces a season system, progressing through spring, summer, autumn, and winter, affecting gameplay and NPC behavior. Each season brings unique features, like blooming bushes in spring and frozen water in winter.
  • Dynamic weather conditions, including fog, winds, and snow, impact visibility and sound, offering strategic advantages.
  • The detailed ecology system replicates real ecosystems, with pollen gusts in spring.
  • The map, similar in size to Assassin’s Creed Origins, is divided into historical Japanese provinces, offering diverse locations from towns to colossal castles.
  • Synchronization points return with a twist, offering highlighted points of interest instead of cluttering the map with icons.
  • Set during a time of urbanization and warfare, Shadows features varied locations, including towns, trading posts, farmland, and massive castles, with mountains and forests beyond.

Assassinations

  • Shadows offers a non-linear campaign centered around targets, allowing players the freedom to pursue them in any order. Some targets are discovered organically, while others involve structured infiltration gameplay.
  • Ubisoft aims to provide a more hands-off experience, guiding players with hints rather than explicit instructions, fostering autonomy.
  • Most main quests are playable by both Yasuke and Naoe, offering diverse approaches. However, each character also has exclusive missions tailored to their skills and background.
  • Beyond the main storyline, players can engage in side quests and various world activities, exploring castles, temples, shrines, and art.
  • Players can establish a spy network, deploying agents to gather intelligence on targets.
  • A hideout serves as a central hub for players and allies to convene and strategize.
