The highly anticipated marvel Fantastic Four part : First Steps starring Pedro Pascal and Venessa Kirby just got released this weekend and fans were really excited to see the new take on the franchise. Here’s a detailed review and breakdown of MCU Fantastic Four.
The Defenders Of Earth:
The movie take place four years after the space exploration incident with Reed Richard and his team which causes anomalies in their bodies causing different powers to emerge and soon the world gave them the title of fantastic four and entrusted their defense in their hands. The earth in which this version of fantastic four(Yes there are more than one version) take place is Earth 838 indicating the multiverse reference.
The Plot:
In the beginning we get know that Sue Storm is pregnant with Reed Richard Child which is a joys moment for them. Jonny(Human Torch) and Ben (The Thing) both congratulate them over dinner. Reed Richard seems concerned regarding the nature of power within the child as he was continually checking for anomalies but couldn’t find anything on realizing this Sue Storm console with Reed and ensure him to love his child as he is. As everything seemed alright suddenly the earth is showered with meteors along with an unwelcome visitor from space The Silver Surfer (Shalla-bal). She upon arriving issues the warning of arrival of cosmic entity Galactus the devourer of worlds.
The Main Plot(SPOILER):
After the warning of Silver Surfer, Johnny (Human Torch) chases after the surfer and catch up to her only to be thrown back but before that she utter something in her language to Johnny which Johnny didn’t understand at first. Realizing the danger of Galactus, Reed Richard suggests that we go to Galactus before he can come to us. So they devised a plan to travel towards Galactus energy signal. When they reach the signal they witness the devouring of planet. Entire planet eaten by a space ship as they tried to escape from it they get the ship attention and soon the ship scan get locked on pregnant Sue Storm and they get sucked in by the ship then Silver Surfer appeared and tell them Galactus is waiting for them.
Upon arriving at the Galactus coliseum they locked their eyes on a giant figure sitting on a throne and suddenly the giant gaze lights up in dark. Upon looking at Sue Storm Galactus felt the presence of cosmic power within Sue Storm(as in sue storm child) which can end his hunger. Galactus offer them the choice to either give their child to him or sacrifice the whole earth. Upon realizing the danger Fantasic Four attacked Galactus and escape, Silver Surfer tried to get her hands on their unborn child but failed after a long battle, during all this Sue Storm went into labour and gave birth to Franklin Richard. After arriving on earth people welcome them as victories heroes but soon during press brief Reed Richard told them the whole ordeal after hearing the truth the world went against them and tried to force them to give up their child in order to protect the earth.
The Sub Plot:
Meanwhile Reed Richard was devising a plan to stop Galactus. Johnny was trying to find a way to decipher the language of Silver Surfer and he succeeded and figured out that in order to save her planet Silver Surfer is leading Galactus to other planets to devour. This is unlike the character of Johnny that we have seen in previous versions of Human Torch this was something different for the audience.
Reed’s Plan:
Reed Richard start devising plan to protect the earth in any other way possible. So they came up with a plan to teleport the earth to a different location before Galactus arrives. As they were planning on it The Silver Surfer spoiled their plan by destroying all the teleportation bridges as the last bridge remains Johnny intervene and caught Silver Surfer by surprise by speaking her language and confronted her morality.
With all bridges being destroyed except for one Reed Richard then planed to lure Galactus into the bridge and teleport Galactus to other dimension. Now Galactus have arrived, here’s the one thing that they really nailed here is the scale of Galactus on earth that was accurately depicted and impressive. So in order to lure Galactus Reed decided to use their child Franklin as bait. When Galactus started moving towards the child they distracted Galactus and put the child someplace safe but soon Galactus caught their plan and didn’t fall for the trap and found the real child. After capturing the child as Galactus was moving away Sue Storm uses her power to stop Galactus and push him towards the teleportation bridge, another thing to note here is that how they portrayed Sue Storm power here with the implication of mother will power to sacrifice herself for her child as that what happen she succeeded in pushing Galactus into the portal but she collapsed and fall down, it seemed everything was over suddenly Galactus hand came back from portal as Johnny saw this he tried to sacrifice himself to push Galactus but Silver Surfer pushed Johnny away and sacrificed her self by pushing both Galactus and her self into the portal. All the team members then gathered around Sue Storm, Reed tried to wake up sue but realizes she is no longer breathing while grieving over her wife he then put their child on top of her and here we get to see the glimpse of Franklin cosmic power as he revived his mother.
The Conclusion
Everything in the end gets sorted out and soon Fantastic Four are back being the defenders of earth. We also get teased of Fantastic Five as in Franklin Richard as the fifth member. But Reed and Sue decided that this is too soon. In the conclusion we get the happy ending.
Post Credit (SPOILER):
in the post credit we get finally get the Glimpse of Dr Doom himself. After four years Sue Storm can be seen sitting with Franklin as she is reading him book she went away for a bit to grab another book and then she heard something can came back only to see Dr Doom sitting with Franklin. His face not shown but just the side of his face covered with cape but this only glimpse was enough the get the fans on the edge of their seats. Dr Doom sitting with Franklin throw some heavy implication of Dr Doom plan which involves Franklin. We still have not seen anything about the Thunderbolts post credit seen where the Fantastic Four ship can be seen entering into earth but in overall fans are now excited for the upcoming marvel movies.
